Dear Colleagues and Friends EUROCK 2010 is now over. It was a pleasure to welcome over 300 people, including more than 70 students from overseas, in Lausanne. The technical presentation went very well and with 4 parallel sessions, with over 200 presentations, including 6 keynote and 3 scheme presentations, following strictly the timetable, people were able to switch between sessions to select the presentations to attend. The open discussion on the future of rock mechanics in Europe lasted about 2 hours and generate sufficient debate and interests. We hope the discussion will continue for the rock mechanics community in Europe. The EUROCK Award achieved its goal: to generate interests among young rock mechanics profession. We had 35 candidates. The winner is Azania Mufundirwa (PhD in Japan) and the runner-up is Matt Lato (PhD in Canada). We are pleased that the Award will continue for EUROCK 2012 and the future one.
